The Association of Translation Companies (ATC) chooses Assent to Support Industry ISO Certification Scheme

The Association of Translation Companies (ATC), a trade body representing organisations in the language services industry, has selected Assent Risk Management to develop its ISO Certification Service.

The service was established by the ATC in 2017 to provide impartial, trustworthy certification to standards aimed at language service companies, including ISO 17100 for Translation Services and ISO 18587 for Machine translation Post-editing.

The ATC is perfectly placed to provide in-depth knowledge and experience of these specialist language industry standards, and to add value for certified clients. Certification is open to both members and non-members of the association, and auditing can be provided remotely

Risk management firm Assent provides consultancy and auditing services for many popular standards including ISO 27001 for Information Security and ISO 9001 for Quality Management.

Assent has a track record of helping organisations in all industries achieve ISO Certification, and also provides expert training and eLearning content to support certification to quality, business and IT standards.

Robert Clements, Director at Assent said

“The ATC’s ISO Certification Service has a strong foundation and we look forward to working with the association to further build a capable and compliant Certification Body for language service providers.”

Raisa McNab, CEO of ATC said

“In this new joint venture, Assent’s deep ISO consultancy and certification experience will combine with the ATC’s language services industry expertise, strengthening our service offering and adding value to our clients.”

Assent Risk Management will take over the day-to-day operations of the ATC Certification Service from 1st October 2020, and has set clear objectives for the first six months including:

  • Strengthening compliance in line with ISO 17021-1;
  • Implementing new technologies to support clients and auditors; and
  • Increasing awareness of industry standards and certification.
